Course Information

 

The Green Staging Professional™ training course is an e-learning course that is split into three sections.  The course is designed to be a one-day online course lasting six or more hours.  However, you can split the course up over several days or weeks if you wish.

Tax Incentives and Program

Section 1 - Section 1 is an introduction to green staging.  You will learn more about what green staging is and why it is beneficial to your client.  We will talk about the Green Staging Professional™ designation and why it gives you credibility in the marketplace.  You will learn about trends in the green home market including why demand for green features is rising and which green features homebuyers desire.  We will discuss the important home and product certifications such as LEED® and Energy Star  You will also be given a primer on climate change and global warming so you understand what inspired the movement toward green homes and products.

Section 2 - In Section 2 you will learn more in depth information about green staging.  You will learn which home features will reduce energy and water consumption and how that translates into economic benefits for the homeowner.  You will learn about materials and products in a home that may be polluting indoor air and which alternative materials and products to use that are healthier.  We will cover the different types of renewable energy as well as discuss the term "carbon footprint."  We will teach you how to calculate carbon savings based on reduced energy consumption.  You will learn why recycling and waste reduction is important and how you can help your client avoid landfill waste by identifying where and how to recycle products during their move.  Finally, we will go over a low-cost staging example that gives you some ideas on low-cost ways for your client to add green features to their home that will enhance its marketing appeal to homebuyers.

Section 3 - Section 3 will discuss green decorating.  Examples and images of sustainable decorating ideas will prepare you to adopt a new mindset when staging.  We will give you ideas for alternative products and materials that can be used for decorating that are environmentally friendly.  You will learn why these products and materials are better for the home and the environment.  We will talk about how green homes are marketed and why green features in your client's home will differentiate it from other homes on the market.  We will show you where to find information on tax incentives and rebates for specific product purchases for your staging business and client.  Ideas for advertising your green staging service will also be discussed.  The section closes with a chapter on eco-friendly lifestyle changes which can be given to your client so they may prepare for a new eco-friendly lifestyle in their new home.

At the conclusion of the training course there will be an exam covering the course material.  A passing score of 75% must be achieved in order to obtain the Green Staging Professional™ designation.  The exam will consist of 32 multiple choice and true/false questions. 

Once you have completed the course, passed the exam and signed and returned all necessary documents, you can use the Green Staging Professional™ designation to communicate your knowledge of green staging to clients. 

Course Fee

The course fee is $295 which includes registration for the training course, use of the Green Staging Professional™ trademark for the first year, your profile listing in the Green Staging Professional™ directory, as well as various marketing documents.  See all of the additional resources you will get here.

To maintain your designation after the first year, the annual fee of $99 is due one year after completion of the course.  The fee includes access to an annual update course to educate you on new strategies and trends in the green home market, continued use of the trademark and designation, renewed subscription to our newsletter, and continued listing of your profile in our directory.
